By His hand

I just finished reading a brief text by DeYoung, "Just Do Something" that forced me to rethink how I view the revealing of God's Will in my life. I must confess, DeYoung had me pegged regarding my long held belief that God would provide discernible direction for many small details in my daily life, as well as the choices having greater impact on my present and future. Wow. Until reading this, I had not realized how I had come to not rely on, but attempt to equate minute events to a divine intervention :) I realized that this can become, and is for many people, quite debilitating in the manner it can minimize God's perfect plan for each of our lives. God does work in the smallest aspect of my daily existence. He just does not need to reveal it to me before I can act. DeYoung brought this to clarity for me and I am grateful.

That being said, DeYoung also discusses how upon reflection we can clearly see how God has worked in our lives to bring us to where we are today. How amazingly true! I have had the blessing of time over this summer, having made the conscious choice to not work (not financially sound decision, but personally worthwhile!) and have spent substantial time reflecting on my life, my present and my future. How awesome my God is and by His hand I have been brought to this very day and moment. He has brought me through the darkest of days, the stress of too much responsibility, and the confusion of making difficult decisions. He has led me from a desire to study and learn, to a hope of making an impact in the field to which He has called me, to an opportunity to grow and continue on this amazing journey; all the while having blessed me beyond measure with 2 loving and amazing children, extended family that supports me, a church family that inspires me, and tremendous friends who hold me accountable and just love me for who He created me to be! God is truly so good. His magnitude is overwhelming and far exceeds any human conception. I am grateful for what He reveals to me daily regarding who He is and what He has promised. It is in His Word that I find nourishment, peace, hope, and excitement for where His hand will guide me tomorrow, and the number of tomorrows He allows me on this Earth.
For I know the plans I have for you," declared the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Amen, and amen.
